The RACGP has provided a response to the Macquarie University Centre for the Health Economy on the Getting more value from mental healthcare funding and investment consultation. The RACGP’s response highlights the central role of general practice in mental healthcare and recommends the integration of mental and physical health care, adequate funding for longer consultations, improving access to mental health services through the decoupling of item numbers 2721 and 2725 and using the Shared Care Model to effectively coordinate the care of patients.
