CPR for GPs - Latrobe

RACGP Tasmania is facilitating a CPR course delivered by Penny Royal College in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
The CPR requirement aims to ensure all GPs maintain their skills and competency to perform CPR procedures on a patient or member of the community when required.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

Learning outcomes
- Demonstrate the DRSABCD action plan to respond to an emergency situation.
- Demonstrate management of unconscious breathing casualties.
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a person who is unconscious and not breathing normally in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
- Demonstrate competency in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.
