This insightful webinar will explore ways that you can support patients struggling with mental health challenges including anxiety and social isolation.

You’ll learn about practical, evidence-based approaches to address common barriers to social connection - in particular, social prescribing. This session will discuss the role of GP psychotherapy and social prescribing as part of a broader management strategy to address mental health concerns and will explore how whole person care and social prescribing can be used as a powerful approach to enhance patient wellbeing by addressing social and emotional needs.

  2. Describe how to implement social prescribing into general practice

Dr Cathy Andronis
Chair, RACGP Specific Interests Psychological Medicine

Dr Cathy Andronis works as a GP and psychotherapist in inner Melbourne. She is the current chair of the RACGP Specific Interest faculty in Psychological Medicine, and a keen advocate for mental health in primary care. Cathy is a clinical member of the Australian Association of Family Therapy, a medical educator at Monash and Deakin Universities, and provider of clinical supervision, trainer in Focussed Psychological Strategies and a facilitator of case consultation groups with RACGP and ASPM.

Dr Kuljit Singh
Chair, RACGP Specific Interests Social Prescribing

Dr Kuljit Singh has been a GP for over two decades and is passionate about preventative and lifestyle medicine, especially social prescribing. She believes that the current health and social climate is particularly conducive to this type of non-pharmacological prescription. Keen for this to become embedded in primary care, she recently took up the role of Clinical Director of Projects for KnG Healthcare, where innovative health & wellbeing programs are being curated.
